One of the hottest trends in 2007 evening wear is metallic colors. They compliment perfectly your sun-kissed (or self-tanned) shoulders and gams, they are brightly subtle, funky and fun. They can be worn by all of use despite our age and body type. A metallic top gives a nice glow to anyone’s face and a metallic dress is dressy but without making you feel all dressed up. It is the ‘go to’ look when you want to go to a fancy party and then continue for drinks at that funky downtown hotspot the same night.

There are certain rules that a well -dressed girl should always follow when she goes metal:
- Keep accessories minimal.
- Don’t wear any jewelry when your metallic dress is too sparkly, or too bright.
- Wear shoes the same color of your dress or neutral to avoid color clashes. The same goes for your bag. Keep it small and simple.
- Keep your makeup fresh and neutral looking. If you do a metallic allover, people will think you’re a Star Trek Alien Wannabe.
Here are some dresses I really like this season by Burberry, Kay Unger and Niteline. Enjoy!

The light summer jacket May 20, 2007

The new summer jacket is light, but it should never be taken lightly. It can get you a long way: pair it with shorts for an instant glam up of your favorite pair of shorts or jeans, or wear it with a cute summer dress when it is a bit chilly or when you want to wear your dress to the office and you want some cover up.

No matter how you choose to wear it, a summer jacket is one of the essential items in a wardrobe. Choose a nice cropped one to make your wardrobe current and pick a nice neutral color so you can pair it with many different things and create numerous outfits. I particularly like this beige Marc by Marc Jacobs one featured above, but there are choices out there for every girl and every budget.

If you can’t decide which neutral to get, I would advise to go either black or white; always smart, always glamorous and perfect for summer.

Pucci Girl May 15, 2007

Since 1947 when Emilio Pucci was approached by a Harper’s Bazaar photographer who asked him to design skiwear for a story in 1948’s winter edition of Bazzar, to the enormous hit of his couture house, which opened in 1950 on the Isle of Capri, fashionistas everywhere have been following the Pucci style religiously. The Pucci style is known for the use of bright colours and bold patterns.

Today, the Pucci style is hotter than ever. Try getting the real thing, because a fashion-savvy person can always tell the difference between the authentic design and the copy-cat. In an authentic Pucci design, the colors clash very tastefully.

But if you’re on a budget, try the vintage route, or just buy a scarf which you can pair with everything. It is a great investment that you’ll wear many-many seasons and years to come.

A poem for Mommy & what to give her on her special day May 11, 2007

Mommy dear, mommy dear. It’s that time of year. The time that we think of you and how to please you. What to give you? Not a scarf, that’s a laugh! Maybe a bag…Another bag?…. Yes a bag, a nice and hefty one. The bag you wanted, the bag you longed for, the one that you really can’t afford, the one you dream of.

Get your mom a nice, ‘unmomsy’ type bag, which will take her everywhere! Check out for bargains - they are all around you.

Happy Mother’s Day!

The little wrap dress and how to spice it up May 6, 2007

Once upon a time there was a fashion designer who introduced the little wrap dress to the world. Everyone went ballistic and all women wanted to own one. So, they went out there, bought a little wrap dress and the rest is history. The name of Diane Von Furstenberg and the little wrap dress became an item.

30 years later, history repeats itself. Wherever you go, you see women of all ages wearing a little wrap dress. Not all of them can afford a DVF version, but this is not a problem anymore, as it seems that every store either high end, high street or independent, offers a little wrap dress version to the demanding crowd.

I love little wrap dresses and on occasion I will wear one too. But I try to spice it up a bit, so that I don’t look like the ‘little wrap dress’ converted consumers, who seem to be everywhere these days. I wear it with boots and a leather short jacket to give it some edge, wedges and chunky bracelets to extend the 70s vibe, or jean stovepipes and high heeled sandals to make the look funky for evening.

The whole idea of the little wrap dress it to be versatile and show off one’s personal style, not to make its fans clones of one another. When you wear a little wrap dress, remember to accessorize it with your own personal touch. Make it original and make it your own, to reflect its endless possibilities and most importantly yourself. Like Diane once did.
