One of the hottest colours for spring/summer 09 is yellow. A dress or a top in a warm yellow or a refreshing limoncello hue wins my vote. Treat yellow as a neutral colour: pair it with black or gold shoes and accessories for evening, and vibrant blue, green or purple for day. The trick is that when you wear yellow you should keep your hair and makeup simple and as natural as possible. Fresh and chic!

Fall Winter 2009/2010: Suming up New York, London, Milan & Paris shows March 12, 2009
Since the show season for fall/winter 2009 started, I have been looking at all the shows and reading all the correspondence, with not so much awe this year. It seemed a little bit the same of what we have seen previously, updated with styling tips and accessories: a collar here, a belt there and poof sleeves. However, this was expected; we are in recession, and when in recession women and men buy a few classic staples which will last for a very long time and which pull any wardrobe together.
We saw shorter hemlines in dresses and skirts, rounder, raised shoulders in cropped jackets and blouses, lots of leather jackets teamed up with dresses in 60s A lines or tulle skirts, inspiration from British dandies and sequined dresses or detailing. Naturally black, charcoal, the gray palette and white are the dominating colors of the upcoming winter season. Stock up on ribbed tights and booties and you are set.
The collections I liked the best, which will inspire the high street:
Badgley Mischka, for evening mostly with beautiful, flattering dresses, but quite unconventional at times.
Behnaz Sarafpour, with sweet, easy to wear dresses, a touch of lace here and there and beautiful detailing. She pairs her shorter dresses with lean-matte black stretch pants. Love it!
Chanel. The Kaiser did it again: Frothy blouses and cuffs, fantastic suits, jackets, coats for both men and women, both youthful but also grown up, it is one of the few collections that is worn comfortably from women 18-70, proving once more that the Chanel Woman is ageless and always chic.
Martin Grant worked the trends: rock-n-roll mini-dresses, coat-dresses and a skirt-suits with waist-shrinking tulle padding at the hips brought memories of beauties of the 40s and 50s but with a 2009 edge.

Fashion Don’ts: Real Fur March 9, 2009
Wearing real fur -coats, collars and all the trimmings- is not only appalling. It is cruel and unfriendly to animals & the environment. Would you ever wear a dead human skin over your expensive designer frock? I don’t think so. Animals on fur farms often spend their entire lives trapped in tiny wire cages waiting to be slaughtered in the worst possible way. For what? For all the phonies who claim to be animal lovers and on macrobiotic vegan diets, but who throw on a fur coat at any chance? PLEASE…
