The perfect summer canvas tote June 18, 2009

Filed under: You ask. We answer. — ivivarda @ 8:56 pm

Picture 228For over a month now I have been looking around for the perfect summer canvas tote. As I am more of a weave basket kind of girl, so canvas versions were not the first thing that I scouted for in the shops. Until now that is. As a busy woman and mom, I need to have a canvas tote in hand at all times. The canvas option can travel easily along in the city, the office, the beach or anywhere one’s heart desires. It does not break and it does not lose its shape when placed in a suitcase or stuffed in another bag. My heart is currently beating for the Lylou bags. A little bit retro hip and very durable, is what I’ll be totting around this summer.

Wear a Dress at Work June 7, 2009

I love summer too much, and one of the reasons is that the warm good weather can simplify (in a good way) life including dressing for work. There is no need to try hard to figure out what to wear at work each morning, when there are all those fab dresses around. Just put on one a little number like the one featured here from Neiman Marcus, throw on a pair of nice heels (and yes they can be sensible – it is work after all), add some jewelry (essential and will make you feel like a million bucks), grab your bag and off you go.

If you are a pants and button down type of girl, but you want to wear a dress, try getting some darker hues, or the black and white combo which is a safer choice. Materials look more expensive when the clothes are darker and it is slimming. Nothing wrong with looking fabulous and slim right?

Happy Shopping!

When it comes to men’s trousers I absolutely love navy, blue or beige/white shades for summer dressing. The cut this year is straight and a bit narrow, or a loose fit. Choose what looks good on you and flatters your body. The pants need to come just under your belly button. Too low and you’ll look juvenile, too high and you’ll in grandpa territory.

This is how you can wear them:
Smart-casual: paired them with dressy shirts and ties.
Cool chic: You can wear them with a polo or a print T-shirt, a vest and a Havana hat.

As far as accessories are concerned:
Dressed them up with smart shoes and a matching belt – black, grey or tan recommended.
Dress them down with  like espadrilles or walking sneakers.

There. Summer time and the dressing is easy…
