Finally it feels like autumn. I just love this season. Not too cold, but fresh enough to bring out the warm knits, to wear knee high boots, hats and start preparing for the winter. This winter is all about simple, chic, elegant looks that are easily thrown on but are also comfortable. Lux materials have a central role and are teaming up together in unusual combos: lace with leather, silks with wool and mohair (like the example from the fantastic Michael Kors collection), shiny silver and gold accessories –including shoes- with daywear.
We get inspiration from the 60s, 70s and 90s minimalism this season.
The 60s Mods trend with lots of mid thigh shift dresses and A-lined coats, the 70s with the boho look still holding strong featuring big hats, platform boots and fake fur jackets, minimalism with sleek silhouettes and a sophisticated palette of greys, blacks and browns, with a bit of androgynous style adopting coats, blazers and jackets from the male wardrobe.
- There are a few collections which I loved and will definitely get inspiration from:
Celine is all about tailored looks in a white to dark chocolate palette with greys and browns thrown in. Watch the video of the collection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PhnPrA4NIU
- Acne showcases the modern urban woman, in loose fitted trousers, tops and jackets in fantastic autumn colours such as burnt orange, mustard and cream. Watch the video of the collection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=XZ7ud9gkQ_Y
- Balmain brings out the rock 70s chic out of us with fantastically shiny and sharckly mini and maxi dresses, statement jackets and tailored statement trousers. Watch the video of the collection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaIrssUYRD4&feature=relmfu
- Erdem, has the best dresses of the season. Easy, breeze shifts can take you from morning to the evening with a quick change of accessories and adding on a bit of red lippy. I also loved his maxis which are sleek, but their fantastic prints bring out the wow factor and won’t get unnoticed even in the most glamorous surroundings.
