I close my eyes and immediately I think of the elegant, handsome and witty man, who is full of surprises. He is well spoken, tough, rough, never phased in danger, who serves the baddies clever one-liners at the most critical moment. He can swim with sharks, step on crocodiles, save the Earth from World disasters and crazy scientists and has probably kissed 500 girls. He knows his champaign and only drinks his martinis shaken. Oh! and he has impeccable taste in clothes for over 50 years.
These 50 years of elegant dressing is celebrated this summer at the Barbican in London, up until the 5th of September: ‘The Barbican marks the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, from 1962’s Dr No to this year’s Skyfall, with a unique exhibition showcasing the inside story of the design and style of the world’s most influential and iconic movie brand’.
Besides the sets, the design and the gadgets the exhibition showcases the work of some of the most prominent costume designers and fashion creatives such as: Armani, Brioni, Cavalli, Tom Ford, Givenchy, Ozbek, Packham, Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Anthony Sinclair, Philip Treacy, Ungaro and Donatella Versace.
